Bizzy Brahman Bulls to $7500
Brahman bulls sold to $7500 and heifers to $6250 at the 3rd Annual Bizzy Invitational Bull and Female Sale at Grafton Saleyards on Saturday 3rd September 2011. In all, 73 lots averaged $3363 with a 92% clearance.
The sale, held by Michael & Elizabeth Fahey and family of the Bizzy Brahman and Nettle Creek Brangus & Charbray Studs at Copmanhurst was successful with a combination of local, statewide and interstate buyer support with over 85% repeat buyers. Invited vendors included Warren and Christine Newcombe, Lorimar Park Brahmans, McPhersons Crossing, Max and Dawn Johnson, Jomanda Brahmans, Clarenza, and Mogul Brahmans, Maclean.
The 45 Brahman bulls sold to a top of $7500 and averaged $3867, 19 Brahman heifers topped at $6250, averaging $2342, 6 Brangus bulls to $4000 (twice) to average $3167 and 3 Charbray bulls topping at $3000.
Matt Edwards, Edwards Livestock, Jandowae, Qld, on behalf of Glenfillan Pastoral Co., paid the top bull price of $7500 for Bizzy Swagman, a 29 month-old cherry red, well muscled and balanced son of Bizzy Drover out of a red Bizzy female by Kandoona Romeo. Swagman was a ¾ brother to last years’ top priced bull, Bizzy Jackeroo. The bull, selected for his thickness, softness, topline, loin and natural muscling, will be used over red females at Glenfillan. Continuing on from last years’ success, 5 sons of the homebred sire, Bizzy Drover, sold for a $4300 average.
Other top Bizzy Brahman bull sales were sons of Bizzy Western and Lancefield Magnetism selling for $6750 and $6000 to Central Qld Pastoral Co., Baryulgil, a Winchester Magnum son for $5500 to LAD Investments, Grafton and two red bulls for $4750 & $4000 to Ward Holdings, Moorland.
Jomanda Brahman bulls topped at $6500 twice for a 34 month-old red son of Tartrus Redmount sold to Western Pastoral, Nymagee and a 33 month-old red son of NCC Serengetti sold to Baryulgil Pastoral, “Ranch Valley”, Baryulgil. Baryulgil Pastoral put together three red Jomanda bulls for a $5083 average. The Mitchell family, from Coutts Crossing outlayed $5750 for a red Winchester Magnum son.
The Lorimar Park draft topped at $5250 for a 33 month-old grey son of JDH Sir Winston Manso, while his full brother made $3500, with both bulls selling to Adam Chapman, Fineflower.
The Mogul bulls topped at $4000 twice for grey bulls by Jay W Press Juinor & El Ja Data Axcess selling to Coombadjha Pastoral, Coombadjha and John Pollard, Mallanganee.
In the female section, a top price of $6250 was paid for Bizzy Michelle, a 13 month-old red daughter of Lancefield M Magnetism from Bizzy Mel, bought by repeat buyer Tom Chevalley, Tamanga Brahmans, Fine Flower. Mr Chevalley, who bought the second top priced female at last years’ Bizzy Sale (another Magnetism daughter), chose this heifer for her thickness and femininity and will be joining her to a top red bull in spring 2012. 6 Magnetism daughters have been sold at the Bizzy Sales in the last 3 years for a $7700 average. Mr Chevalley also paid $2000 for a grey Jomanda heifer by Jomanda Kingston.
2 other red Bizzy females by Tartrus Redmount and Lancefield Magnestism sold for $5500 and $5000 to Rockpool Cattle Co., Glenmorgan, Qld,
6 Brangus bulls sold to a top of $4000 with Coombadjha Trust taking 2 for a $3625 average. G Knott of South Grafton bought the top priced Charbray bull for $3000.
